Brief History & Demographics
36 yo Caucasian male, divorced. Living with parents after losing own housing, recently broke up with partner of 4 years, stopped working due to symptom burden. Trauma history included extended combat trauma and death by suicide of younger sister during his deployment.
Course of Treatment
Received 2 MEMI sessions, each of which focused on 1 trauma.
Outcomes
Starting PCL-5 of 67; Ending PCL-5 score of 2.
Stated at end of therapy "This has changed my life!"
At six month follow up, stated that he has started a relationship, is working, and reports that he is much better at managing his daily affairs.
Traumas can be resolved Quickly and effectively


Course of Treatment
Attempted Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) but did not complete due to avoidance and emotional shutdown. Completed Written Exposure Therapy (WET) two years prior, with focus on current social interactions. Agreed to MEMI after incompletion of other therapies available. Completed 7 MEMI sessions for all of their identified traumas.
Outcomes
Starting PCL-5 score of 63; ending PCL-5 score of 33.
At end of treatment, stated "Why would anyone want to do any other treatment?"
At 3 month follow up, was leaving apartment on a daily basis, was looking into starting her own business, and reported emotional and behavioral stability.
Brief history & demographics
43 yo Caucasian Queer identified, unpartnered, very few social interactions, stopped working due to symptom burden.
Trauma history included childhood abuse and neglect from a very early age, multiple sexual traumas in young adulthood..
Foster stability in patients even with long histories of complex trauma.
Brief history & demographics
48 yo caucasion male, divorced twice, in new relationship. Currently unhoused. Relatively consistent employment. Polysubstance abuse spanning 17 yrs.
Trauma history included Military Sexual Trauma, and sexual assaults by family members during childhood.
Course of Treatment
Four prior residential treatment stays for substance abuse. Completed 4 MEMI sessions, focusing on 4 discrete traumas.
Outcomes
Starting PCL-5 score of 64, ending PCL-5 score of 12 .
Commented at end of treatment "I have my life back".
At 8 month follow up, was still in relationship, was working, remained sober and reported "I'm in my new life!"
Not requiring patients to recite details of their traumas makes it safer for both you and your patients
